Furry foam is a synthetic fuzzy foam not unlike a super thin foam rubber. Most people will be aware of this product for use with the popular crab pattern the " Turneffe Crab" but Furry Foam is also very popular for crab carapaces, or cut into strips and wound onto the hook to create body for small woolly buggers or thorax bodies an even crayfish/ prawn flies.
Although labelled as foam, furry foam will absorb water and is not very buoyant when used in flies. Handy to know for your fly design.
