One Beast, two handlers.
As the title suggests, there are two guys controlling this Beast, Marty and Chris. The two came together after Marty was looking to expand past a hobby of brush making and sought out work with an industry professional to further develop his products, that's where Chris comes in.
Marty and Chris have been working together since spring 2018 and have been developing brushes to suit Game Changer flies for the main part but also brushes to suit small saltwater patterns and larger brush fly style flies.
The Beast Brushes website is a place where we will be selling the range of brushes along side a display catalog of Chris' Ammo Flies range and services. In addition to the brushes and flies, a range of graded materials both natural and synthetic that have been hand picked and sorted by both Marty and Chris so to ensure quality and ease of use. Some of these products will be unique to Australia and some will be graded by an expert before sale for the first time in Australia. We are not trying to push into an already saturated market by selling what is commonly available, we are offering unique products to suit a market that has been widely overlooked in Australia. That is modern flies for Australian freshwater natives and tropical saltwater fly targets and natural materials that are better than "just good enough to use"
Marty has a long background of fly fishing and fly tying, mainly preferring the solitude of a life away from social media and online forums. Marty is a true definition of a soul man who reads and observes his surroundings with ability to translate what he sees to the vice. Marty's concepts with his Brush making have been nothing short of amazing and have already accounted for some great captures for him personally as well as Ammo Flies customers. Marty will no doubt maintain his recluse style throughout the Beast Brushes Journey and could be considered the scientist behind the products here that are unique to Beast Brushes.
Chris is the owner of Ammo Flies and is still a newbie to the fly fishing with over 2 decades of experience exclusively fly fishing and almost the same with fly tying. Ammo Flies is a relatively new comer to the scene but Chris has built Ammo Flies up to become a full time operation as of the end of 2017, previous to that, Ammo Flies started way back in 2014 as a hobby that quickly grew. Chris was accredited with a Federation of Fly Fishers certified casting certificate (CCI) back in 2007 and has been a practicing certified casting instructor since. Ammo Flies developed a reputation for producing quality Deerhair creations and was displaying flies that were not seen in Australia by the current resident commercial tiers. Flies such as Dahlberg Divers, and the range of Bob Popovic flies was where it all started, this has now branched out to the popular Game Changer style of fly that Chris is known as a world leader in. Chris has hosted many presentations to fly clubs all over Australia, he has also been the president of the Saltwater Flyfishing Association, and competed in many fresh and saltwater flyfishing tournaments with many that he has either won and placed in. Chris has flyfished all over Australia, from Victorian Saltwater, to Weipa, over to the Kimberly and a lot of the way down the east coast in both fresh and salt. He has also taken 4 trips to Christmas Island with his fist time being back in 2004 at the Mini Hotel and most recently back in 2011 at the Villages. Chris is a member of the Ahrex hooks, Solarez Australia and Dynaking Vices pro communities and is also a pro staffer for Fishtec Solutions where he uses Edge Fly Rods by Garry Loomis and Toray fluorocarbon leaders.
